If your goal is to write the ICAN exam in 2024, you will need to register for the program as a student. There are numerous benefits to becoming a chartered accountant. This is not limited to a higher salary package at your place of work. Also, you will have a skill that will serve you for a longer time. No wonder many financial advisers say that the best investment is an investment in yourself. In this article, you will learn how to register as an ICAN student in 2024.

Methods of registering as an ICAN student

There are at least two ways to register for ICAN as a student. You can use the paydirect method or the ICAN webpay via their website portal. In the PayDirect payment for registration as a student, you will need to go to a commercial bank and make a payment of 8,000 Naira (excluding charges). Then a receipt is issued to you. Next, use the printout or receipt given to you to register as a student. All you need to do is follow the instructions provided.

The second method is via webpay. To do this you will need to follow these steps.

Step one: Click the link to get started: https://icanportal.org/professional/NewRegistrations

Step two: Enter your phone number and every other detail requested on the first page. 

How to register as an ICAN student in 2024

Step three: Click on the webpay option to make a payment of 8,400 Naira to ICAN. This is your student registration fee. 

Step four: After making payment, your pin and serial number will be generated for you via the ICAN portal.

Step five: fill in the other details provided accordingly. Check for errors and make necessary corrections especially your names should be spelled correctly to avoid unnecessary issues.

Registration requirements for ICAN students 

Before you register as an ICAN student, ensure that you have the following documents available.

  • Passport
  • Your B.Sc statement of result or certificate
  • NYSC discharge letter or call-up letter. If they are not available, you can use your school transcript which must be sent by 
  • Birthday certificate or declaration of age
  • A referee will sign your document. He must be an ICAN member who does not owe the Institute any amount of money.

With the aforementioned information, you can proceed with the registration steps as explained above. Ensure you follow the steps. Also, upon completion of the registration, you will be required to print out a document. Then, you shall attach your B.Sc. statement of result, NYSC discharge letter, and your birth certificate. You are expected to sign the document along with your referee who will also include his membership number. The final step is to upload the document via the link provided by ICAN. And wait for your approval which will not be more than a week.
